Lost Planet 2 is not perfect. Which is really disappointing. How is it that Capcom makes a game so good, but they can't be bothered to go that little bit of extra distance to make it perfect? Are they lazy? Negligent? Oblivious? Just teasing us? We may never know. We can only consider the missed opportunity that is Lost Planet 2.

Day of Defeat: Source wasn’t quite the remake that fans of the original had expected or hoped for. It was less faithful than Counter-Strike: Source, which at least had all of the original’s weapons, and it came with only four maps upon its initial release. Five years later, Day of Defeat: Source still undeniably has less content than the original: it now has a mere nine official maps, while the rest of the game’s missing weapons still haven’t made the transfer and probably never will. Yet the biggest gripe that Day of Defeat players had back then wasn’t the lack of content in this classed-based, WWII-themed FPS; it was the subtle changes it made to the way the game’s weapons behaved.

We're in the thick of the NFL playoffs, and people are breaking out sophisticated computer simulations to predict the outcome. The best out there will make sure the rosters are up-to-the-minute accurate. They'll adjust player abilities for the most minor of injuries. They'll map the current weather models into the mix. They'll do everything they can to make sure the computer's outcome is couched in 100% reality. I, however, am not one of the best.

February has gotten off to a great start! An ice storm blasted through the area, leaving me stuck at home most of Tuesday and Wednesday. And off work Thursday, as another branch of the company had to use my work station due to not having Internet access for a couple days. Things are back to normal now, so let's recap what all I did in January.

Relic Entertainment has recently announced that the open beta for Company of Heroes Online will be shutting down on March 31st, 2011. Relic will no longer be selling COHO cash, the in-game currency, and they urge all players to spend any that they have already purchased. As a token of their gratitude, Relic is offering everyone who participated in the beta the opportunity to purchase Company of Heroes Gold (which includes the original game and the first, but not the second, expansion) for only $4.99.

In case you hadn't already noticed, Monopoly Millionaires launched this week on Facebook. I started playing it on the very first day it was available because over the years, I've come to love Monopoly and have frequently enjoyed its digital adaptations. The classic board game has been a success on numerous platforms and I've played several of those releases, including the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 3 and various PC editions. I don't mind saying that I enjoyed all of them a great deal more than I do the Facebook edition.

By now you've probably heard that the people at Twisted Pixel Games, last responsible for the ever-so-excellent Comic Jumper, have announced a new game. It's called The Gunstringer and yesterday it was unveiled first at IGN. Today, we have some information to share with you about the game.

Demon's Souls was a terrific game, one of the best action-RPG titles that gamers had ever seen (and one of the least forgiving). Atlus really scored a home run when it chose to localize the brutal game in 2009. Now, 2011 is here and some are wondering who (if anyone) will localize its spiritual successor. Today, Namco Bandai announced that it would do the honors... and that it also would be localizing Armored Core V.
