Even though Nintendogs was one of the first system movers for the DS, Nintendo sort of limited their audience by including only one species of animal. Nintendo undoubtedly wants the move even more 3DS with the next iteration, so they've doubled the pet loving and made it Nintendogs + cats. Even if you already own an adorable feline (or canine), some of the game's features sound exciting.

At the forefront is facial recognition using the 3DS camera. Your virtual pets will eventually begin to recognize your face as you interact with them more and more. You won't have to call your dog's name to get its attention; it will come up to the screen automatically when your face appears. Your cat, however, will probably wake up, give you a disinterested glance, and go back to sleep. The eye animation has been retooled from the still eye images of the original, so its possible you'll see your pets feelings, whatever they may be, on a deeper level.

Other features include the ability to snap 3D photos of your pet to share with other players. And if you really want to pretend the dog or cat is real, you'll be able to use the Augmented Reality feature to place it in a real location.

Nintendogs + cats will launch with the 3DS on Feb. 26, 2011. Gotta moves those systems, after all.
