Sometimes, you don't really want to press a button in order to swing a sword at a horrible monster. Sometimes, you just want to run into the beast and out comes your sword and after the collision, the monster is dead and you are richer for the experience. Sometimes, you just want to play an other Ys game, or sometimes you just want to replay one that you've already played one, ten or twenty times.

Ys I & II Chronicles is made for people like you who find themselves in that "Sometimes" mood. Released today on the PSP platform, the title features reworked versions of the first two classic Ys titles.

If you buy a launch copy of Ys I & II Chronicles, you'll not only receive the updated game, which includes four levels of difficulty and updated visuals that take full advantage of the PSP hardware. You'll also receive a soundtrack featuring live instrumentation from Falcom's in-house band, synthesized tracks from the 2001 Japn-only Windows release of the two games and the original chiptune versions of each track as recorded in 1987 and 1988. For a fan of the series, it's difficult to imagine things getting much better than that!

Ys I & II Chronciles retails for an MSRP of $29.99 and is available across North America. A digital version of the game can be purchased on the PlayStation Store and carries a price of $24.99, though it doesn't include the soundtrack. If you live in Europe, you will have the opportunity to download the game starting on Feb. 23 for the suggested retail price of €19.99.

If you are interested in hearing more about Ys (and you probably should be), check out the official Ys site from XSEED Games to learn more about this newest release and also the previous two PSP titles that XSEED Games has brought to North America. You might be surprised at what you've been missing!
