Independent game developer says something reasonable

On August 10, 2013, indie game developer Mike Bithell unexpectedly made a reasonable comment on Twitter. His comment has already inspired discussion and a number of retweets.

For those who are unaware, Mike Bithell is the developer responsible for the creation of Thomas Was Alone, an indie title that was released for the PC, Mac, PlayStation 3 and Vita platforms. He also has a current project in the works, which one might reasonably expect to arrive on the same platforms.

"I am not a pundit," Bithell noted in a subsequent tweet. "If I was a pundit, I'd own an awesome boat like Pachter. I don't even own a crap boat."

Independent developers such as Bithell have faced a stream of interview requests because there is clearly a story here, obviously a salacious headline if only an enterprising journalist can get someone in the development community to say "Microsoft hates indie developers" or "Sony has its head up its arse" or something similarly incendiary.

Unfortunately, Mike Bithell is not that developer, at least not today. We'll try to do better next time.
