You have to give BioWare credit for attempting to make Dragon Age: Origins as vast and immersive as possible. On Sept. 7, they are expected to release a final bit of downloadable content for this behemoth of a game titled Witch Hunt, which will sell online for $7.

A year after the events of the game's main plot, rumors abound that the witch Morrigan has returned to Ferelden. You (either as your Gray Warden character or as an original creation) are sent to investigate these reports. There obviously is the potential for things to get quite interesting, especially if you made certain choices concerning her towards the end of Origins.

This would be the eighth quest-oriented bit of DLC released for Dragon Age: Origins in the roughly 10 months since the game hit the market. The first three (The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagor) provided new optional quests for a player to embark on while saving the world from the Blight. Awakening was a full (ie: larger and far more expensive) expansion taking place after Origins. Darkspawn Chronicles was an alternate timeline sort of thing, where you control darkspawn taking over the capital city in a world where the player's character didn't survive the test to become a Gray Warden. Leliana's Song, The Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt, on the other hand, all take place before or after the main game in order to flesh out certain characters and/or Ferelden's history and lore. All in all, it's a pretty wide variety of scenarios in which to hack-n-slash your way through life.

Which all means that in the near future, I'll be going on a DLC spending frenzy and completely submerging myself in the world of Dragon Age: Origins for what could be an eternity or two. Or at least until March 2011, when Dragon Age 2 is expected to be released.
