Red Hook Studios today announced that Darkest Dungeon II is due to arrive on PlayStation platforms starting July 15, 2024. The game previously left Early Access in May of last year, and has been available for purchase on both Steam and the Epic Game Store.

According to a press release, Darkest Dungeon II will be available as a base game, and players can also purchase The Binding Blade, which is DLC that reached PC this last December. An Oblivion bundle includes both the game and the DLC, and is available as cross-buy across PlayStation 4 and 5. I may never play a game on PS4 again, now that I have a PS5, and yet there's a part of me that can't resist adding to that older library. Cross-buy rocks.

"We have been very eager to bring Darkest Dungeon II to PlayStation players," said Red Hook Studios' Design Director, Tyler Sigman. "The game feels great with DualSense Controller--we've been able to add touches like feeling the heartbeat of a hero on death's door, or the rumble of the stagecoach's wheels as it hits a trap. Darkest Dungeon I was fortunate to find a strong community on PlayStation and we hpe the same proves true with the sequel."

The Binding Blade DLC adds two new playable characters to the mix: The Duelist and The Crusader. There's also a roamining mini-boss, The Warlord. He sounds dangerous.

In Darkest Dungeon II, players journey through five campaigns known as "Confessions." There are bosses at the end of each campaign, and 14 playable heroes to help you brave the franchise's infamous challenge level.  Raidant and Internal Flame equipable items allow you to increase that difficulty, if you wish, or even make things a little more manageable.

You can start your next journey on July 15, 2024, as noted. But you can preorder starting today, should you feel so inclined.
