Bandai Namco today announced The Ritual of Bonds Volume 2, which is the final DLC for Sword Art Online Last Recollection. The new content, like the game it helps to expand, is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

The Ritual of Bonds Volume 2 adds a few fan favoite characters: Alice, Eugeo, Leafa, Yuuki, Rain, Seven, Kureha, Zeliska, and Medina. Divided into pairs, the available characters will face a new trial in a dungeon under the Obsidia Castle Town.

According to a press release, "a new story unfolds with tough challenges that await our beloved hero, Kirito, an dhis new friends in Sword Art Online Last Recollection. Players will unmask the Dark Knight and find out if Kirito and the crew will survive the relentless battles against the forces of the Dark Territory!"

That sounds momentous to me. The base game explores an alternate future that ended better for Kirito, Eugeo, and their allies, compared to what you might remember from The War of the Underworld. It offers an "exciting and elevated battle system.

Fans of the anime are sure to find something to like in the video game adaptation. There have been periodic new entries in the series going all the way back to the first PSP installment in 2013, Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment. The base game is currently available for $41.99 on the PlayStation Store, making right now a pretty good time to jump in if you've been meaning to try the series for some time.
