You might not have noticed, with things being as busy as they are, but C2 Game Studio was working on a game it planned to release later this year, called Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients. Well, the game is still in development and still due to arrive ahead of Santa Claus, but now it will be called Astor: Blade of the Monolith.

An action-RPG, Astor: Blade of the Monolith lets players explore the planet Gliese, where they will encounter sentient creations known as the Diokek. Created by an ancient people, the Diokek are now dealing with malevolent creatures known as the Hiltsik. Somewhere in the middle of things, a monolith of some sort is presumably involved.

"We wanted to ensure Astor: Blade of the Monolith had a strong, unique identity," said Luis Correa, Founder and Game Director at C2 Game Studio. "Something to really  make it stand out. We think the new title offers something punchier and more distinct. And you won't need to wait long to play it as Astor: Blade of the Monolith will launch on all platforms later this year!"

In case you missed it, that new title is Astor: Blade of the Monolith. That's what you should call it. Astor. Blade of the Monolith. Here is a list of the game's features straight from today's press release:

  • Engage in intense battles against 16 different enemies and 10 formidable bosses across over 20 hours of main story and side quests
  • Arm yourself with 4 unique weapons, master dynamic skills and combos, summon powerful constructs, and craft your own combat style
  • Traverse Gliese's diverse landscapes, complete various side quests and uncover remnants left by your creators
  • Test your skills in combat challenges and conquer New Game+ mode for an even greater challenge

The game apparently counts the likes of Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and The Legend of Zelda as its inspiration, which is pretty good as far as such things go. It looks like it is coming together quite nicely, so it could be one to watch as its release approaches. It appears to be headed to PC, Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox platforms.
