About Gameroni
Gameroni is your new destination for game-related content like you grew up reading in magazines and on websites in the early 2000s.
Game journalist Jason Venter created Gameroni to bring back the basics that used to make game coverage such a joy to read, at a time when talent and experience no longer seem to be valued as they once were.
As a long-time freelancer, Venter is proud to have contributed to multiple leading publications since 2000, including IGN, GameSpot, Polygon, GamesRadar, and several others, where he learned from some of the best editors in the business.
Venter's experience writing about games for online audiences actually dates back to 1998, when he built HonestGamers on an old Geocities server. In the decades that followed, he grew that tiny site into a hub that now features thousands of reviews written by gamers all over the world, as well as hundreds of news articles documenting the industry's history.
Venter also wrote for Hardcore Gamer Magazine during its entire print run, while serving as the publication's online community manager for much of that same period.
In recent years, numerous high-quality game sites have closed, eliminated much of their top talent, or made other choices that prevent them from serving the gamer community as capably as before, particularly with the proliferation of AI writing. Venter is sick of watching a new tragedy unfold each week, so he decided to do something about it.
At launch, Gameroni can't replace the paying work its contributors may have lost. But if enough motivated individuals band together, history has proven that great things can happen. And now, they just might happen at Gameroni.
