If you own Crusader Kings 3 on console, you might worry that you're missing out on some of the experience, compared to players who purchased the game on PC. But there's a company out there that is on your side, and this week it announced the availability of Chapter 4 content on the relevant consoles.

According to a press release issued by publisher Paradox Interactive, Room 8 Group has made the first of the content available already, with more on the way. You'll be able to purchase the components together, or individually if you prefer.

Pricing varies by region, but I checked the PlayStation Store in the US and found it listed with an MSRP of $44.99. The previous chapter has the same pricing, and a chapter before that was $34.99. Someone is making good money on this game, probably.

You might be wondering what all you get in exchange for your hard-earned coin. According to the press release, the included components are as follows:

  • Crowns of the World Instant Unlock: Available immediately upon purchase of Chapter IV, this pack includes six new historic royal crowns, four new hairstyles and two new beard designs for character portraits.

  • Khans of the Steppe: This Core Expansion pack focuses on greater historic detail and flavor for the nomadic tribes, including new game mechanics like herd migration and clan politics.

  • Coronations: This event pack highlights the decisions a ruler must make upon taking the throne. Prepare an elaborate coronation, to display your wealth and power to vassals and rivals alike.

  • All Under Heaven: This Major Expansion for Crusader Kings 3 extends the game map to include China, Japan and Southeast Asia. Explore new types of government, for each region, special events, decisions and roles for characters as you prepare original alternate histories of a medieval world that you will shape, unseen in any previous Crusader Kings game.

At launch, as noted above, you get the Crowns of the World content. Having not yet played the game, I don't know how substantial any of that is, but I assume it's pretty great. Who (besides my wife and women like her) doesn't like beards? They're grand!

A deeper dive into what some of the individual components contain, taken directly from today's press release so I don't paraphrase and get something wrong, follows below (along with trailers). Enjoy!

Khans of the Steppe

Launch raids on your neighbors, building your herds and amassing enough power to become the Khan of Khans and, maybe, the ruler of the world.

Coronations

Coronations is an event pack for Crusader Kings 3 that adds a new activity for your ruler and related events. A Coronation ceremony allows kings and emperors to solemnize their reign, impress dignitaries and engage in a little scheming. Even if your character isn’t being crowned, they may attend as a guest and get some noble work done.

  • New Activity: Coronations

    • Legitimize your rule through grand coronations that will impress your vassals and neighboring rulers

    • Maneuver around faction members and detractors, hopefully forging a magnificent coronation from dangerous circumstances

    • Bring together your vassals for a grand ceremony to celebrate your new rule of the realm

  • Oaths:

    • Take an oath after your coronation and declare an objective for your rule

Crusader Kings 3 is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with an MSRP of $49.99 USD. A "royal" edition featuring the first expansion pass and other content is also available for $74.99, at least on the PlayStation Store. Have you played Crusader Kings 3?
