4A Games today announced that pre-orders are live for the Standard, Deluxe, and Collector's Edition of Metro 2039, the next entry in the shooter franchise that kicked off with Metro 2033 in 2010. There's also a bonus reward for players who pre-order the game.

Whatever version of Metro 2039 you choose to purchase, you can get a "specialist pack" as a pre-order incentive. It includes early unlocks three unique, swappable backpack upgrades. Arriving as a feature that's new to Metro 2039, blueprints let you craft upgrades and attachments for your weapons and gear.

With the included pack, you can equip one upgrade at a time (so choose carefully):

  • Equipment Specialist Pouch - For gunsmiths who want to focus on crafting advanced weapons and gear more quickly.

  • Chemtech Specialist Pouch - For explorers who want to brave radioactive areas with more gas mask filters and cleaner, more reliable equipment.

  • Munitions Specialist Pouch - For marksmen looking to find and use rarer, more powerful ammunition types in their firearms.

Metro 2039 will be available in digital-only and in physical editions. The Collector's Edition is ambitious enough that there's even a trailer for you to watch, showcasing the Spartan helmet you get as part of your purchase.

Most of us probably don't need a Spartan helmet cluttering up our apartment or house, no matter how awesome it is. But if you have a spacious game room, it would probably look really, really cool on one of your shelves.

Here's a complete list of what the Collector's Edition contains:

  • Game disc

  • Wearable Replica Spartan Helmet

  • Exclusive SteelBook

  • Hardback Art Book

  • Story Expansion DLC

  • Digital Art Book

  • Digital Soundtrack

If that's all a little too rich for your blood, the Deluxe Edition sounds like a nice compromise. It comes with:

  • Full game

  • Story Expansion DLC

  • Digital Art Book

  • Digital Soundtrack

And finally, there is the standard version that most of us will probably go with. It includes just the full game, either on a disc (for the physical version) or as a code. The Story Expansion DLC will need to be purchased separately at a later date.

Metro 2039 will be available starting Feb. 4, 2027 on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X. The PC version will launch on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. It looks like the Deluxe Edition is priced at around $109.99 USD, but I couldn't find a price yet for the Collector's Edition. It may wind up being difficult to acquire. If you're eager to get it, make sure to monitor the official Metro 2039 site.
