Atomic Owl is getting a physical edition for PS5, publisher Eastasiasoft announced today. The hack-and-slash action platformer, developed by indie studio Monster Theater, will be offered in both standard and deluxe editions, to appeal to owl fanciers with varying budgets.
In Atomic Owl, players become a samurai-styled owl named Hidalgo Bladewing. Not content with having the coolest hero name I've seen all day, he also hopes to rescue his abducted opinions.
As he cuts through the night, Hidalgo's only companion is his brash-talking sword, or so said today's press release. I don't know quite what that means, but it sounds appealing just the same.
Atomic Owl features hand-crafted pixel art, with settings inspired by Japanse culture and anachronistic fantasy. The PC version dates back to July 31, 2025, but console versions arrived with rebalanced features on May 20, 2026.

Besides bug fixes, Atomic Owl on PS5 includes a new "No roguelite" mode, which sounds perfect for people who don't want a roguelite mode. It's only optional, meaning you can still play with more punishing play intact. Here's the complete list of features, straight from today's press release:

On PlayStation 5, Atomic Owl will retail for $24.99 USD. That's the standard edition. For the deluxe edition, which includes a slipcase and soundtrack CD, you'll need to fork over $34.99 USD.
Although the game doesn't have a definite ship date, its arrival is expected sometime during December 2026. You can place your pre-order at Eastasiasoft.com today, if so inclined.
