Two years have passed since the original PC release of The Mortuary Assistant, and you know what that means: it's high time someone got around to releasing a definitive edition. Luckily, that's just what is about to happen, with The Mortuary Assistant: Definitive Edition due to reach Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on August 2, 2024.
According to a press release, the Definitive Edition also brings updated gameplay to both the PC and Nintendo Switch versions of the game, already available. New content includes Haunt Events, an endless embalming-only mode (you know you want it), additional bodies and lore, performance improvements, and of course a Valentine's Day-themed event for all you romantics.
In The Mortuary Assistant, players are cast as Rebecca Owns. You have recently graduated and now work as an apprentice at River Fields Mortuary, where an assignment late one evening turns into a battle against demonic forces.
The gameplay loop apparrently includes examining and preparing bodies with “disturbingly realistic” techniques such as cleaning, embalming, jaw-wiring, and much more. And, of course, there are all those demons to dispel. Being perfectly frank, this does not sound like my kind of game. But maybe it's yours? Here is a list of key features from the press release:

You can already purchase The Mortuary Assistant on Steam, where the game has a “Very Positive” average rating from an audience of people who play and enjoy such games. Now, if you don't mind, I think I'll go cower in the corner with my security blanket.
