Digital Sun, the developers of Moonlighter and various other titles people seem to have enjoyed, are back with their new baby. ReVamp, first announced earlier this year, is a game about Dracula. In this case, the fanged one just wants a little peace and quiet that he can't seem to get because of the local populace.
Apparently, they're not afraid of him. But they really should be.
At the Triple-i Showcase, which was organized by Dead Cells co-developer Evil Empire, Digital Sun showed off its upcoming title with a trailer that also announced a release date: Mar. 25, 2027.
The date is probably the biggest news, since we didn't know what part of our calendar to clear for the game until today, but the trailer also spent some time showing Dracula roaming his castle and battling heroes.
Conceptually but not visually, the game reminds me of an old PSP series from Acquire, called What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord?! In those games, you played the lord of the dungeon and you set your minions to stop the brave heroes who wanted your head on a pike. The last update to that series was No Heroes Allowed! VR on the PlayStation 4, so we were definitely due an update.

ReVamp looks to benefit from a suitably gothic art style, and there's a lot more detail to its visuals than Acquire's series offered. The full list of key features from today's press release is actually pretty impressive:
Tower Defensevania. Defend against escalating waves of barbarians, knights, and priests who storm your gates with evolving tactics.
Rule as Dracula. Move freely through your castle, unleash brutal melee strikes and devastating blood magic, and personally turn the tide of battle.
Modular Castle Building. Construct and reconfigure your fortress room by room, shaping enemy paths and battlefield flow in real time.
Command the Shadows. Build an army of nightmarish creatures, from werewolves and harpies to stranger horrors like a cyclops that weaponizes its own eye and a mimic waiting to devour adventurers searching for grimoires.
Spread the Darkness. Conquer the land city by city in honor of the goddess of the night, with each moonrise resetting your campaign's fate and bringing new opportunities to expand your dominion.
Blood-Fueled Progression. Harvest the blood of fallen invaders to unlock new rooms, empower your minions, and expand your strategic arsenal through the ages.
An Eternal Loop. Each moonrise resets the war, but your dominion grows stronger and more formidable with every cycle.
A Tragic Power Fantasy. Wage an eternal war in the hope of bringing Dracula’s lost lover back to life, bound by blood, darkness, and divine will.
If you're like me, that list already has your imagination kicking into overdrive. As players, we so often get to save kingdoms from evil rulers and monsters, but we rarely get to explore the darker side. Sometimes, being bad is good.
Apparently, there will be a Steam playtest starting Oct. 29, 2026, just in time for Halloween. Digital Sun is allowing people to sign up ahead of that launch, and will let people join in waves. If you'd like more chances to play the game early, you can join the Digital Sun community on Discord, which will feature news about the playtest, sneak peaks, and more opportunities at access.
