Due on Dec. 3, 2026, Waltz and Jam is a platformer featuring a young hero named Waltz and his dog, Jam. There's more to it than that, of course. A lot more, actually. But that's the ghost. Er... gist.

The game's producer, Jinhyung Oh, spoke about the game and its appeal in a new trailer, which released as part of today's Cozy After Dark Showcase. With the game's arrival drawing nigh, the event was the perfect time to show it in action.

You can watch the video above, if you like, and I encourage you to do just that. It's pretty short, and it shows some neat footage of the game in action that has me hyped. Reminds me a bit of Astro Bot, but as it might be seen through an indie lens. Flyaway Games is apparently based in Seoul, Korea.

The game's setup is this: Waltz wakes up in Downtown, unburdened by inconvenient things like memories. The thing is, he'd rather like to have some. So, he heads for the Gate of Judgement, which he has no hope of entering unless he collects seven stamps. Eager to see and do new things, he sets on a quest with Jam, his spirit puppy.

A selection of urban fantasy books, with text in the middle of the banner with a genre hook.

Waltz's journey will take him through seven worlds, each inspired by one of the seven deadly sins, but with zero percent chance of a head in a box. Okay, probably not zero, but very low. Settings include chaotic restaurants, castles, and deserts. The worlds have their own visual identities, puzzles, enemies, and bosses. Sounds good to me.

Here is a list of features from the press release issued to mark the occasion:

  • A Ghost and his Puppy: Explore the afterlife as Waltz together with Jam, a spirit puppy whose evolving abilities are essential to your quest.

  • A Hand-Drawn Afterlife: Discover beautifully illustrated realms filled with charming characters, strange creatures, hidden secrets, and plenty of personality.

  • Creative Puzzle-Solving: Use Waltz’s gadget-like toys and Jam’s unique abilities to solve environmental puzzles and uncover new paths.

  • Seven Deadly Realms: Travel across seven distinct chapters inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins, each introducing new environments, mechanics, enemies, and bosses.

  • Trial by Combat: Face off against formidable bosses, learn their attack patterns, and work together with Jam to overcome each challenge.

  • A Joyous Adventure on Console: Experience Waltz and Jam on Nintendo Switch™ 2 , PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.

Look for Waltz and Jam on Dec. 3, 2026, as noted above. And expect to play it on Switch 2, PlayStation 5, or PC, also as noted above. If you'd rather not wait, check out the official Steam listing to find a game demo.
