NIS America sent out a quick email today to let folks know about its plans for Village in the Shade, the forthcoming farming sim with light horror elements that is due to arrive on Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC on Oct. 27, 2026.
The big news is that the publisher is making a 38-song soundtrack available across two discs, and calling it Sounds from the Shade. You can hear some samples by viewing the following video.
The soundtrack will be included in every Limited Edition package of the game, which of course prompts the remark, "Wait, there's a limited edition?" And yes, there is.
As noted in today's press release, the limited edition is priced at $89.99 and comes in a collector's box. It includes a copy of the game, art book, the aforementioned soundtrack, acrylic block, and some metal pins.

In Spring 2027, DLC will also arrive with additional scenarios, new gameplay systems, standalone events, and fresh maps.

Attractions include a babbling brook, cherry blossom trees, and cozy paths through an idyllic village setting straight out of your favorite anime. Ah, sweet relaxation!
There's a seedier side, beneath the pleasant facade. Locals follow a set of strict rules: don't talk to strangers, don't leave the village, and don't go out at night. That last part is especially relevant, because from what I can tell, the game is made by the same team responsible for the dark and foreboding Yomawari series.
Some players might find the nocturnal events a bit frightening, and for those people (a group that might very well include me, for all I know), there is the "Village in the Sunshine" mode. There are no rules to break there, just quite countryside living with farming, hunting, and fishing at whatever pace you like. It all sounds good to me!
