Atlus today released a demo for Metaphor: ReFantazio, giving Nintendo Switch 2 players a chance to sample the game's unique vibe and play mechanics ahead of its release on Nov. 12, 2026.

The demo is being called the "Prologue Demo," and you'll find the link on the store page, right next to the "View DLC" link. That link, by the way, leads to eight pieces of DLC content priced at $4.99 USD each, in case you wondered.

Check the game page for a full listing of content that comes with a pre-order, which seems substantial. As for the demo, here's what you should expect to experience:

  • The beginning of the journey to lift the curse of the prince.

  • The first four dungeons.

  • The ability to unlock seven of the 40+ classes called “Archetypes”.

  • Meet six followers, including party members who will support the Protagonist’s journey.

  • And much more!

That's a lot to experience, honestly, especially considering how large some of the game's dungeons can be. You'll have a chance to get to know the principal players, discover the joy of Archetypes, and get a proper sense of the unique game's flow.

Metaphor: ReFantazio has been available for just over two years now, and the Switch 2 version is priced at a very reasonable $39.99 USD. If you're looking for a solid experience to enjoy this holiday season, you could do much worse. But don't take my word for it. Download the demo and see for yourself.
