Poker Night at the Inventory, the remastered card game you might not have even known you could play again, just got an update that adds a new mode and four new tables. It's the perfect way to extend your time with the unique title.
First released by Telltale Games in 2010, Poker Night at the Inventory is a comedic Texas hold'em game featuring a variety of featured guests you might recognize from their appearances in other titles. They are Max from Sam & Max, Strong Bad from Homestar Runner, Tycho from Penny Arcade, and Heavy from Team Fortress 2.
In 2019, the game was removed from digital storefronts, leaving some of us to mourn what might have been (unless you were like me and snagged the original release as part of one bundle or another). Earlier this year, the team at Skunkape Games remastered the title and brought it back for a whole new group of players... and now there is some new content to enjoy.
According to a press release issued this very afternoon, four brand new tables have joined the standard selection, with one tied to each featured character:
Toys of Power (Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse)
Parsnips A-Plenty (Homestar Runner)
Gae's Shirt XXXL (the Penny Arcade comics)
Mann vs. Machine (Team Fortress 2 co-op)
To access the new tables, you'll need to win in-game tournaments, which you should have been trying to do all along. Now, there are just some additional rewards on the line.
Besides the tables, there's a new "Stank Mode" that removes some of the polish the remastered version of the game offers by default. Apparently, some of us missed the grimy vibe. The new mode "makes the colors a little less vibrant, the atmosphere a little smokier, and the overall aesthetic just a bit dingier."
Poker Night at the Inventory is presently available on Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
