Side Mission 033: Who Has the Bigger Magikarp?

Bigger isn't always better, but when it comes to Magikarp, it just might be. At least, Kingsley seems to believe so. He won't respect you until you find a Magikarp that's larger than his.

Fortunately, you won't have to look far.

Find a Magikarp even larger than one with a size classification of XL and show it to the requester.

Kingsley himself gives you a hint about where to search, when he mentions rumors of a larger Magikarp being found in Wild Zone 2. That's exactly where you should look.

Fast travel to Wild Zone 2, where Magikarp enemies are numerous. They often attack as you cross the wooden bridges near the area's southern entrance. Head north across the two bridges, toward the northern exit. Then veer right and follow the barrier to find a shallow stream. You can cross the stream on foot, despite the flowing water.

On the far side of that stream, an Alpha Magikarp should be bouncing around in the grass. Capture it. Then return to Kingsley and show him what you found. In my case, that Magikarp was too small. However, I then returned to Wild Zone 2 and started across the first bridge, where another Alpha Magikarp attacked me. I caught that one, and it was large enough to finally impress Kingsley. Make sure that you show Kingsley the largest one you find. It's possible you already have a smaller one in your box. I suspect that may be what I did wrong in my case.

When you show him the Magikarp of his dreams, a scene follows. Then the mission concludes and you receive your prize: 1,500 Poke Dollars, Pearl, and Exp. Candy S x10.
