Side Mission 009: A Challenge from Froakie

If you want to come out on top in this little side mission competition, you'll need to hop to it. Literally. Your goal is to beat a frog-type Pokemon to the top of some new construction several times.

The mission begins when you head to the construction site and meet with Surv, who presents the challenge: the highest ever scaffolding course. He wants you to clear it in fewer than 30 seconds, which would put the current record holder to shame.

Climbing scaffolding is an activity you'll participate in periodically throughout the game, and this little side quest functions as a sort of training ground. You have to complete three increasingly difficult courses in order to win. The timer actually gives you enough time in each case that you shouldn't have to rush too much, as long as you climb confidently and don't mess up when creeping across narrow girders.

Reach the end of the scaffolding course within 30 seconds.

For the first course, you have 30 seconds to do the following:

1. Head up the short steps
2. Climb up the slanted ramp to your left.
3. Climb more steps and then circle around to find a ladder you should ascend to a higher ledge.
4. Turn left and walk along a plank that extends toward a higher ledge.
5. Step left and drop to a slightly lower platform.
6. Walk along the lower platform to reach another ladder.
7. Climb the ladder.
8. Ascend along one more plank to reach Froakie.

Reach the end of the scaffolding course within 40 seconds.

Meet Surv at the next scaffolding course, nearby. Then climb it within 40 seconds as follows:

1. Run up the first plank.
2. At the top of that plank, circle around to the right to reach two narrow boards extended across a gap, side-by-side.
3. Cross along the two boards.
4. Cross two more pairs of boards to reach the base of a ladder.
5. Climb the ladder.
6. Cross along two more boards, this time extended individually across gaps.
7. Cross to the ladder and climb it.
8. From the top of that ladder, run forward up some short steps to reach Froakie.

Reach the end of the scaffolding course within 50 seconds.

The final scaffolding course is located near the top center of the map of Lumios City, just off to the right near the Lumios Museum. When you arrive, you'll find you are permitted 50 seconds to clear the challenge. Proceed as follows:

1. Climb to the top of the ladder that's visible as you start the course.
2. Head directly forward and roll to drop across a small gap to a lower platform ahead of you.
3. Follow that platform between two walls to reach a ladder at the end, just to your right.
4. Climb the ladder to a higher ledge.
5. Drop off the right side of this high ledge, just ahead of the plank serving as a metal railing.
6. Cross over a narrow beam to the far platform across the alley.
7. Climb along the beam that ascends to your left.
8. At the end of that beam, roll forward to land on the next platform.
9. Cross along another narrow beam leading back to the platforms to the left.
10. Climb one last plank to reach Froakie.

Once you clear the last of the courses, the mission concludes and you receive 1,800 Poke Dollars, Exp. Candy XS x3, and Exp. Candy S. You also add Froakie to your roster.
